From Arizona Fran's 1962 544 B20 Engine. |
The Red 544 is owned by Rob Funekotter Ontario Canada. |
| My very own 1958 445 before being dismanteled for rust repairs. Came with B18 when rescued from the wrecker 6 years ago. It runs well and passed air care testing. Body was in bad shape. It is now in the last phase of painting.

Here is a typical 1960 544 B16 before and after restoration.
Work done expertly by Alex Looms Idaho. The 544 in almost all original condition.

Matt Dillon's car. |

Above is James Barrett's 544. This car was junk in May of 2001.
The interior was shot, the engine
wouldn't run, and the tires were rotten from sitting outside for 12 Years.

Hans Duerichen's 544 1964 has about 400,000 miles on it used as a daily driver. Has a B20 engine with electric overdrive. It's great on Kentucky highways. Could use air conditioning when the weather reaches over 35 degrees C. |

Here is Steve & Tarona Stanfield’s 1964 PV544. It has received serious restoration work, been rebuilt from the ground up, over several years.
Upgrades include a new B20 Volvo engine and automatic transmission from a 1975 model, new upholstery throughout and body and paint work. The B20 fuel injected engine is fitted with SUH6 carburetors. Paint is Red Garnet Metallic. Upholstery is black vinyl with red cloth inserts.
Steve have had some fun with non working gauges however diligent work has solved that problem. The original headlights were replaced with
Xenon Gas bulbs to give excellent night vision, especially with the addition of driving lights
Steves last comment “many more small jobs await, but that’s one of the reasons we drive old cars…the joy of working on them” I could not agree more. Working on the cars is sometimes more fun than driving them. You can see (and download) more pictures of my car at http://www.geocities.com/steve_sms/volvo

Ian Hill's vintage 544 race car. Ian is really jumping into racing w/ both feet now...! He passed the first SCCA racing school session in October. He needs to pass another one in March to get his rookie license. This is originally a 61 B16 now with a B20 still original B16 radiator, spec-built as a racer by Dick Reynolds in Grand Rapids, MI (a guy who's been racing his own 544 since the '60s...used to race Trans Am against Mark Donahue!). The B20 is over-bored; ported and polished head; 122 front discs, Ford 9" axles and drums on the back; custom one-piece drive shaft; Muncie trans, w/ short throw; dual Webers; header and straight pipe; Panasport wheels; full custom welded-in roll cage; Phoenix fire system plumbed in; IPD sway bar in front; Carrera shocks all around; Mustang springs, cut, all around.... Hmmm....that's all I can think of right now. Oh, except that the body had over 350 louvres cut into it! Not really functional, but look really cool! :)

Bob Greenberg's 1957 444, "Sven" was bought used in 1962, has rolled more than 900,000 miles. Sven received a B18 motor and a 4 speed gearbox otherwise he is original. Sven resides in Catskill Mountains on Mount Minnewaska. |

David Certain's 1972 Volvo 1800ES. His dream car. He wanted one since he first saw one in 1975. David is a jazz bassist, and there is enough room for the acoustic bass, amplifier, luggage and a passenger. It is a rust-free California car with 204,000 miles. David is the third owner and he has all the maintenance records. The car needed very little work. |

Marc Richter's Lake Worth FL expertly restored PV 544 1960 B16. Beautiful all original black 544.
|
Ingvar Svard of Coldstream, BC, Canada PV 544 B18 with one of his own manufactured tear drop trailers. Great set up for camping. Contact Ingvar at www.adventureteardrops.com if you would like to purchase a trailer. Ingvar is also owner of a low mileage original 1958 Volvo Military "SUGGA". See picture on his web page. |

Gregg's newly acquired 1958 PV 445 Duett (Helga). Great condition, considering it is an almost 50 year old car. Drives nicely with a B20 engine and O/D. Converted to 12V. |

One immaculate 1963 PV 544 restored and owned by the Kooiman family in Lynden,
WA
|
Tom Mason's, Oregon City great looking 1962 544. Has 155,000 miles, spent
a lot of its life in New Mexico, it is completely rust free. B18, 12 volt
car, pretty much all original except paint and redone interior.
Car runs great, will be used for a daily driver.

Jeff Oberg of RI finally got his 1961 210 Duett "Bessie"back together.
Running great. Fine looking Duett.
|

Charlie Perrault's Ontario Canada 67 wagon with new white walls just
installed. Original car with a M410 o/d from an 1800E installed bay Charlie. Also was
able to fit the 4.5" rims with 205/70R15 tires which ride pretty nice. |

Ted Kitzmillers 62 544 .Recent work includes a total brake system rebuild
and new Anti-sway bars installed front and back. It hugs the corners like
it's on rails and the SU Carbs were rebuilt by ZTherapy so it runs like a
top. It's completely original and we believe it is the original paint job
as well. The golden yellow is the rare 544 color and one that is real easy
to keep clean. |

Bill Elliott bought this '64 122 in 1983. The body had just been painted
and someone had put on the later style wheels and an entire later-style tan interior. The engine was in poor shape. Six months later Bill found a '65 122 that had been rear-ended with rebuilt engine and transmission. This was transplanted to his car with a Weber carb. The car has either
215,000 or 315,000 miles on it, with about 100,000 on the engine. The car is not perfect but it's a great fun car. |

Kare Lundberg of Greenville SC owns this 1974 144. It lived most of it's life inn Tucson, Arizona. Bought it outside Chicago in 2003 on ebay.
|
Sean Corvino Shelton, CT 1960 544 rescued from rotting in the driveway. My dad drove it in the seventies. It took me 10 years to get it back on the road. Drive it every summer around CT. Stock B16 and runs good.
|
Andrew Snyder's PV 544 '59 was in a barn for about 30 years. It has the original code 42 off-white paint. The previous owner put some carpet in, and recovered the seats in brown vinyl, otherwise all original except for wheels and tires, rear VW bumper.

This is Paul Poulit's, Redding CA, 1963 544 Sport Volvo, after a three year restoration. The car was a driver when I got it and very stock. She was tired looking and needed a fresh look. I am very pleased with the final condition of the car which was stripped to bare metal and repainted. Newer parts include all rubber seals, and fender welt plus other misc. goodies from Vintage Imparts, a great place for quality, in-stock, parts. Other treatments include B-20 engine with a Weber Carb., Elec. overdrive, Virgo wheels and 1940 Ford taillights with 2006 LED turn signals just above the taillights. P.S. This car was used (prior to paint) in the filming of the movie “Zodiac” which should premier in 2007.

It's not stock...nothing is except the body. I'm running a B20E with Megasquirt programmable fuel injection. It's running Ford EDIS ignition, controlled by Megasquirt. It's got an M41 overdrive transmission. It's got a 940 radiator and a pusher fan from a mid-80's Nissan. I'm running an early IPD header with a 2 1/4" exhaust and a single Magnaflow muffler. Yes...they can hear me coming, and going...
It's got full SuperPro polyurethane suspension with IPD front and rear sway bars. The rear end is from a 240 series car and the front subframe has lowered upper A-Arm mounts to increase camber. The brakes are Wilwood as is the master cylinder. The front brakes are 11.75" Wilwood scalloped rotors with 6-piston Wilwood SL6-R calipers. The rears are 12.19" Wilwood rotors with 4-piston Wilwood Forged Billet Superlite calipers. The wheels are 17" ADR with 215/45/17 Hankook K106 tires. The interior, other than the dashboard and instruments is 240. The seats, front and back are from a GT. I'm running retractable 240 seatbelts with a 240 center console and center-pull parking brake.
The headlights are Cibie cat-eyes with 85/135 watt high-low beams with 8 gauge wiring and individual relays. I have no trouble seeing the road at night.
Needless to say, the car is an absolute blast to drive. It's got lots of pep and goes around corners like it's on rails. It attracts attention wherever it goes.
This red 122 is owned by Dale Walmsley of
Calgary, Alberta,
Canada.

A 1958 444 run by Tom Boes & George Sullivan of MI in the 2006 La Carrera Panamericana. The car runs a healthy but conservative B-18 with SU's, 122 front disc brakes and radiator, and air suspension seats. In 2,000 kilometers of hard running, the only mechanical problem was with the Delco alternator. The car will be competing again in the 2008 event. Further history of this car can be found at doverbrothersracin.blogspot.com

This is Kathie St.Martin Rhode Island 1966 Volvo 544. Purchased North
Carolina in 1965. Kathie is the 4th owner. Been stored in a garage since
1986. The exterior is all original, seats redone, but the rest of the
interior is all original. Gas tank refurbished and carb's rebuilt. This car
has 150,000 miles on it and runs like a charm.

This is how Kathy's car looked 42 years ago. North Carolina in 1965. Pictured with the car is Bob Graham and his mother .

Robert Birch of Toronto ON 1966 Volvo 122 w/B20 during Targa Newfoundland 2005; co-driver/navigator: Desmond Lee - placed 3rd in class (Grand Touring unequipped) behind a 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse and a 2004 Acura RSX; both with factory sponsorship!
The car lost a tire on the last leg of the first day and had to fight back from a 30 second deficit that day to move from 6th to 3rd on the last leg of day 5 in the rain with a smoking wiper motor which could only be used for 3 or 4 wipes and then turn it off for 5-10 seconds and then on again for 3 or 4 wipes, etc
Run a little slower on the last day he could not see much with the little inconsistent wipers; luckily the Porsche 911 was going too fast for the conditions and kept spinning out; a real case of the Tortoise and the Hare.
